It started with a quiet I couldn't explain.
That was me.
Nobody around me was talking about menopause yet, so I had no words for any of it. I thought the flatness was just who I was now.
I'm Gabriella Espinosa. I host Pleasure in the Pause, weekly conversations with doctors and experts about pleasure, desire and feeling fully alive in midlife.

My body telling me something true and beautiful and entirely mine.

That was me.
Nobody around me was talking about menopause yet, so I had no words for any of it. I thought the flatness was just who I was now.
Once I understood that, everything changed. If I didn't want sex, that was information. If I felt flat, that was information.
My body hadn't gone quiet. I'd stopped understanding what it was saying. Learning that language back is the whole work.
You get to want things again.
I work with women one to one. I host a podcast where doctors, educators and founders say the things nobody said to me.
I sit on the board of Let's Talk Menopause, a nonprofit for menopause education and advocacy. I do all of it from Austin, Texas.
Even numbness is information. Your body keeps talking, even when you stop listening. Flatness is a message. So is not wanting sex. So is feeling like a stranger in your own skin. I teach women how to read those messages and answer them.
